To many of the readers of Rome Update, related to Ja and Sal family, we must announce the loss of father and grand-father Ron Coutts.

We will miss him very much. We pray that his soul is in a better, happier and more peaceful place.

February 17,2007

Hi everybody, we had one more fund-raiser for Ja, this one was at the dance school Olimpo del Liscio, where Ja takes many classes, around 400 people showed up, and it  was a beautiful evening of Salsa.   The school presented a couple of dances, and Pancho and Sal played a few of those Latino songs.

Time really flies and we cannot believe we have been here for 4 months already!

Much to my disappointment my last treatment was postponed but finally the day has come and tomorrow (February 8) will start the injections for the next 5 days, (twice each day ) which help increase the stem cell production.

On Monday and Tuesday we are crossing our fingers that we will get the remaining stem cells needed to get started with Ja on the next step.

It must have been meant to be, because Craig returned to Canada for business and invited Ja for 10 days.
Ja has called us to tell us that she has received so much love and support that she will be ready when she comes back.

During the Vancouver visit, she has had a blood transfusion and saw her nurses, doctors, other kids, and everybody was happy to see her.
She is visiting her Grandpa, Grandma, Uncles and friends in a busy schedule...lucky Ja!!

Meanwhile, here in Rome, we miss our room mates but celebrated Lo's birthday turning 16 on January 30th. I made my famous chocolate cake and it was gone by morning. We went to see a great Brazilian musician who inspired Lo since he is learning the guitar and our Spanish friend Javier showed him all the Brazilian chords.

Today Ves, arrived from Canada to spend some time together and we feel very happy to be reunited. He will be turning 19 on February 9th. Pancho is going to make his special "torta cruda", an Argentinian recipe of his mom, she made it every year for Pancho's birthday. (the family tradition continues...)

The sun has been shining, and here in Italy it is carnival time for the entire month of February.

Every week-end there are festivities everywhere. The children dress up in all kinds of costumes and gather round the plazas and spray foam and throw confetti all over.
Pancho and I have been busking for the crowds, they love us and we have made some money too, so we see a lot of potential for the summer and plan to play as much as possible.

With Ves here now, we have plans to start a family business as he is also a craft artist.  Both boys have started playing guitar. We will have to incorporate them in the musical act called "The Paces"... :)

Ja will be back on the 10th. On the 16th, her dance studio is having a salsa night fundraiser and we will be performing there and of course dancing up a storm. Look at
http://www.japace.info/jaolimpo.html

We have been receiving all the news about the fund raiser in Vancouver on the 28th of February and it looks like it is going to be an "awesome" night with an incredible line up including the salsa band Tanga and the band Superbeing, DJ Goldenboy & Cachete & Tony, all 12 girls from the Ja Calendar and Gloria Macarenko from CBC will be the MC.

We wish we could be there, if any of you go please take lots of pictures and send them to us.....we will be at the party in spirit.

What more can we say but thank you a million times, "grazie mile" for all your unending support, we miss you all and will write as soon as we know the news about the stem cells.

Ciao from Roma
Sal, Pancho, Lo and Ves.
